The Since, 1881 Club is for true Rugby people who have enjoyed our great game and the influence it has brought into all our lives. Shanghai Rugby Club is multicultural with a rich and varied history and has always had a significant impact on the lives of its members. With such a diverse cultural mix we have introduced many nationalities to a sport they sometimes did not know existed.
We are particularly proud that from this background we have supported both sexes and all age groups from Under 6 to Veterans and that in the recent years 6 of our members have gained International honours.
4 of those have come through Senior Players making it to the Chinese National Team, then others in Samoa and South Korea.
2 have also come through the age groups playing for the Senior team prior to going on to play for Holland and Switzerland.

Since getting involved with the SRFC back in 2007, being one of the last 5 members raising a glass at our former ground at Dulwich College before the club house was demolished I have seen the club grow in stature and reputation over the years. One of my greatest pleasures while living in China was being involved in the club and it was an honour to serve as president.

Most if not all of you will know this guy. He has just been appointed Director of Rugby at the new Shanghai Rugby Football Association as they welcome in the club officially. His key role for them is to facilitate the new Yangtze Delta Division competitions within the CRFA structure alongside the other regional Sports Bureaus. (nb Unpaid)

Angus was a coach and Director of Rugby at Shanghai RFC from 2009, until he relocated to the U.S.A in 2014. Partnering in crime with Mark Ralph, they co-founded the Sino 10s league and worked in tandem on several local development initiatives to bridge the gap between local and expat rugby. Still working in rugby development, with World Rugby, a situation that started in Shanghai alongside Messrs Ralph, Taylor, Drakeford and Green, Angus looks upon Shanghai rugby with great fondness as a thriving example of modern rugby development as well as a beacon of rugby history on a global stage
